New to swing dancing? No problem! There will be a beginner swing dance lesson from 7pm to 8pm that will take you from the very basic and then teach you 4 moves you can enjoy practicing right away at the dance that follows.

Join your friends for Orlando’s Premiere Christmas Swing Dance Event on Saturday, December 10th! Orlando Swing Dance’s Christmas Gala will feature Florida’s finest 18 Piece Big Band, “The New Tradition Jazz Ensemble”. They will be preforming all your favorite danceable Christmas music!
The Cook Trio’s sound was inspired by Django Reinhardt, born in Belgium in 1910. The first truly influential Jazz artist to originate from Europe and arguably the first to successfully highlight the acoustic guitar in what hitherto been a horn-driven, decidedly Black American genre.
The percussive strumming style of the “Gypsy Jazz” he helped create with his popular Quintette du Hot Club De France during the ’30s and ’40s is the only form of Jazz whose origins are found outside America. When most people think of Jazz, they think of a nattily dressed Miles Davis brandishing his trumpet, or John Coltrane and his alto sax. They rarely remember Django Reinhardt, the rough-and-tumble guitarist who, by ingeniously changing the movement forever, earned a place in the Jazz pantheon long before Miles or Trane learned to walk.
The Cook Trio consists of Ian and Jason Cook and Kyle Jones, who were brought together by their common love of Reinhardt’s passionate music. Their music speaks of Jazz’s original sound and wartime Paris’ unquenchable thirst for life.

Get ready to get into the Halloween spirit a week early this year at our annual Halloween Dance & Costume Contest on Saturday, October 22nd. So pick out your favorite Halloween Costume and get ready to show it off in our annual Halloween Costume Contest and Swing Dance. Great live music featuring your favorite “Spooky Tunes”, and then in between sets our DJ will be playing all Halloween Swing Dance Music!
The dance will feature a killer costume contest with some awesome prizes this year! So start thinking of some original consume ideas now! We’ll be looking for creativity! There will be lots of candy, decorations and a heaping helping of great swing music to dance to all night long!

Returning for the next dance is The New Tradition Jazz Ensemble, by far the best Big Band in the area and a swing dancer’s kinda’ band! This high energy, 18 piece big band play all your favorites along with some new arrangements that are guaranteed to keep your feet moving! It never fails, when this band plays, they pack the house and fill the dance floor with tons of energy, so get there early if you want a seat! In addition to all the great live music, long time Orlando favorite Rob Shrewsbury will be DJ’ing inbetween band sets! Rob is known for his great music selection and ability to read a floor and keep you dancing! Don’t plan on sitting on the sidelines for this dance, you can rest on Sunday!
