Next Series Class – Balboa!
Also note the next series class is starting Sunday, November 1st. This 4 week series class is on Balboa, a popular vintage dance that allows you to dance to very fast music! The class will be taught by long standing local instructors Rob & Dawn Shrewsbury of Flying Footwork Productions.
This is a great class and I highly recommend it!

The twice annual Sock Hop is coming up this Saturday September 26th at the Whirl & Twirl!
That’s right, pull out those poodle skirts and get ready to dance the night away to some of the best rock-in-roll around. Vintage dressing is encouraged but not required at all, so if you don’t feel like dressing up, just come as you are! 
DJ Steve, all the way up from Tampa, will be spinnn’ the best in 1950’s rock-in-roll that’s sure to keep the dance floor hoppin’ all night long. Be sure not to miss out on this twice a year event!
As always, there will be a beginner swing dance lesson from 8pm – 9pm included with admission! Maria & Josh will be teaching the basic steps and a couple cool moves to get you out on the dance floor by the end of the hour!
All ages welcome, Admission is $7.

Saturday, November 14th
The night will feature music by “Kid Dutch and his Blusicians”. This band is sure to keep you movin’ on the dance floor all night long. This band knows what the dancers want and they crank out pure musical inspiration. …and it doesn’t stop there! These guys are one of the most entertaining bands around… fun for dancers and non-dancers alike. They’ll be playing the music of Louis Jordan, Smiley Lewis, Fats Waller, Slim Gaillard, Cab Calloway, Fats Domino, B.B. King, and many others.
In addition the night will kick off early with a very special Dips and Tricks class by Joe & Tabitha at 7pm! Originally residents of the Orlando scene, Joe & Tabitha now regularly teach in Washington DC. This class is open to anyone who knows the swing basic and wants to add some flash into their dancing. The regular beginner swing lesson will follow at 8pm with Rob and Dawn Shrewsbury teaching. As always, dancing starts at 9pm and goes to midnight.

There was a fifth Saturday in August so the next Orlando Swing Dance is Saturday, Sept. 12th. Plan to come out and have a good time dancing and socializing with longtime local instructors Rob and Dawn Shrewsbury teaching the lesson. Rob will be DJing that night so you are sure to hear a wonderful range of swing music styles to dance the night away to!
The beginning lesson is at 8pm and dance starts at 9pm – midnight. Always a clean smoke-free atmostphere with ice cool a/c, family-friendly, no partner required, and $7 for a night full of dancing fun!
Josh from Perfect Shot will not have his inventory of dance shoes at the dance Saturday night. But the inventory should be at the Sock Hop for your browsing and shoe shopping enjoyment.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Nicole Sasser Live Band Night on Saturday, it was a great crowd with tons of energy on the floor! Lots of new faces that we want to welcome and hope to see back soon!
